Group of Sims Metal Management staff and visitors

Sims Recycling Solutions is the largest electronic and electrical equipment recovery and recycling company in the world and is part of Sims Metal Management Limited, the largest metal recycling company in the world. A public limited company, listed on the New York and Australian stock exchanges, the group achieved a turnover of over US$5 billion in fiscal year 2010.

Operating in over 230 locations on five continents, Sims Metal Management employs over 5,500 people and recycles over 12 million tonnes of metal each year. Energy saved from re-use of this recycled metal is enough to power over 6.3 million homes for a year.

Sims Recycling Solutions continues to grow both organically and via acquisition. In 2010, the UK recycling assets of Wincanton were purchased. In 2009, Germany's leading IT asset recovery company, Technorecycle was acquired to complement existing European ICT recovery services in the UK and Netherlands.

During 2008, Global Investment Recovery was acquired in the US, increasing market presence by around 40%. Two asset recovery businesses were purchased in the UK – RecommIT and Lifecycle Services, which are now integrated with Sims Recycling Solutions Dumfries based asset recovery business. Clearhouse, an asset recovery business in Australia also joined the group. Toronto based Accu-shred has been added to Canadian services, whilst Trishriraya became Sims Recycling Solutions first recycling centre in India.

As pressure on world resources continues to grow, Sims Recycling Solutions and Sims Metal Management are well positioned to meet the consequent increase in demand for sustainable recovery and recycling services.
