Sims Recycling Solutions is the largest electronic and electrical equipment recovery and recycling company in the world and is part of Sims Metal Management Limited, the largest metal recycling company in the world. A public limited company, listed on the New York and Australian stock exchanges, the group achieved a turnover of over US$6.5 billion in fiscal year 2011.

Operating in over 260 locations on five continents, Sims Metal Management employs over 6,300 people and recycles over 13 million tonnes of metal and handles over 475,000 tonnes of e-waste annually. Energy saved from re-use of this recycled metal is enough to power over 6.3 million homes for a year.

Sims Recycling Solutions continues to grow both organically and via acquisition:

2011

  • New site in Dallas, Texas - 33,000 sq ft recycling facility.
  • S3 Interactive acquisition- a specialist company offering repair and refubishment services of a range of mobile technology devices such as mobile phones, smart phones, Mp3 players and tablet computers.
  • Device and Ergotrade acquisition - the European ICT asset recovery businesses which allowed us to enter the Eastern European markets of Poland, the Czech Republic and Hungary. 
  • Metwork acquisition - a new electronics recycling company in Austria.

2010

  • Wincanton asset purchases- the UK recycling assets of Wincanton were purchased. 
  • New site in Mississauga, Canada  - 287,000 sq ft state of the art electronic recycling facility includes a fully mechanised cathode ray tube (CRT) recycling process.
  • New site in New Jersey -  93,000 sq. ft. recycling facility serves the heavily populated northeastern U.S. corridor.

2009

  • Technorecycle acquisition - Germany's leading IT asset recovery company was acquired to complement existing European ICT recovery services in the UK and Netherlands.

2008

  • Global Investment Recovery acquisition - acquirde in the US, increasing market presence by around 40%.
  • RecommIT and Lifecycle Services acquisition - Two asset recovery businesses were purchased in the UK, which are now integrated with Sims Recycling Solutions Dumfries based asset recovery business. 
  • Clearhouse acquisition - an asset recovery business in Australia also joined the group. 
  • Accu-shred acquisition - Toronto based company was added to Canadian services,
  • Trishriraya - became Sims Recycling Solutions first recycling centre in India.
